Child care associations promote the education and well-being of children, families, and child care providers.

The Child Development Associate (CDA) strives to ensure that the developmental, educational and emotional needs of all early childhood caregivers and educators for children from infancy to age five is is provided. The CDA works to provide to the developmental, educational and emotional needs of all professionals in the field of early childhood as well as providing to the needs of the nation's children.

The Council for Professional Recognition administers The Child Development Associate, a program designed to assess and give credentials to early childhood education professionals. Professionals can be recognized and credentialed in various aspects of the industry, including those in Head Start, Pre-K, family and child care, infant toddler programs, as well as home visitor programs. CDA has awarded more than 370,000 credentials since their creation in 1975. The CDA has created and follows policies and procedures to ensure assessments and credentialing standards maintain a high standard.
