Our Special Guests:
Andréa St. Germaine | Owner, Walden Child Care
Andréa is a dedicated early childhood educator who values Reggio-inspired practices and emphasizes supportive, positive work environments as a key part of practice. With a background spanning five years as a program director and three years as an owner and operator, she brings a wealth of practical experience to her work. In 2018, Andréa graduated from the University of Victoria’s Child and Youth Care program, specializing in Early Years education. Through completion of this program, she has broadened her understanding of early childhood development and solidified her belief in the importance of relational practice and supportive work environments. She strives to advocate for quality early childhood education, as well as enriching work environments for educators.
Key takeaways from Andréa!
- Take the time to get to know your educators. The more you understand their personal needs, the more likely you are to create a work environment where they will thrive.
- Approach challenges from a support-first lens, instead of from a place of frustration.
- Encourage communication among educators and offer your staff an open-door policy so they feel safe bringing any challenges to you.
- Create an environment where educators feel seen, valued and recognized on a regular basis.
